Why Use a Rosin Filter Bag?
Using a rosin filter bag when pressing material will screen the impurities and separate your oil from your media. The debris is larger than the mesh holes which allow the smaller particles (that sweet oil) to flow through the mesh and onto your parchment paper.
You can press without screens, but you will have an end result that isn’t nearly as clean and enjoyable. Filter bags will change your process if you have never used them before.
Which Filter Size Is Right?
We carry sizes from 1” x 3”, 2” x 4”, and 3” x 5”. In those sizes we carry the following microns: 25, 47, 72, 90, 120, and 160. That is a lot to choose from, so let’s try to make this easy.
The larger the filter bag, the bigger amount of material you can press at once. For example, the 1” x 3” bags can press about 1-2 grams of material without blowouts. Perhaps you want to press 14-28 grams at a time. You will want the 2” x 4” or larger if you plan on pressing larger quantities.
When choosing the correct micron you have to consider how pure you want your oil. If you want the very purest of dabs, you will want to press with a 25 or 47 micron screen. If you want to maximize your yields and can handle a bit of debris then a 120 or even a 160 is just right. The smaller the number, the less yield and debris you will press. Typically a 90 or 120 is a perfect middle ground.
