Composite material with nanotechnology for direct veneers.
Camouflage is a light-cure, radiopaque universal composite restorative material containing micro-glass filler. The specially selected ratio of agglomerized nanoparticles and micro-glass allows ideal polishing of surfaces. The composite meets stringent aesthetic requirements thanks to its chameleon effect, opalescence* and natural fluorescence.
Opalescence the reflection of artificial and natural light through a composite, i.e. through the natural structure of the tooth. T hanks to this effect, Camouflage is, under any light conditions, an ideal, natural looking and highly cosmetic restorative material.
The optimal ratio of nanoparticles to micro-glass in the composite helps significantly reduce polymerization shrinkage.
Application:
Camouflage was developed to provide a very thin coverage layer for teeth that have been “discoloured” following root canal treatment, antibiotic therapy, fluorosis or after being restored with amalgam fillings.
Application:
The classic method requires invasive grinding of tissue followed by the placement of a crown or ceramic veneer, unfortunately. Not every patient can afford this treatment. Moreover, the use of ceramic restorations is not always recommended at a particular moment, if indeed it is recommended at all. When a composite is used for veneering purposes the problem of thickness arises. Once the opaque layer, the Dentine opaque material, the Enamel and the transparent layer have all been applied, the restoration is so thick that the natural Enamel has to be prepared to achieve the desired aesthetic result. Moreover, if we do not apply a sufficient quantity of opaque material, a “bluish, greyish” effect appears in the restoration.
Camouflage ensures a non-invasive, highly effective aesthetic restoration without any loss of Enamel. It is especially recommended for thin layer veneering of discoloured surfaces on anterior and posterior teeth. When layering (“painting”) the veneer the dentist is guided by the conditions they encounters in each individual patient. Camouflage allows the user to select specific colours and make changes in the structure of the tooth because of its immediate effect. If an error occurs (e.g. excessive translucency as in ceramic veneers) the problem can be corrected immediately.
Instructions for use:
Prepare the tooth surface and remove any possible caries lesions. In the case of discoloured teeth with no caries lesions we recommend gently cleaning the tooth surface (a prophylactic sandblaster, a bur for polishing enamel surfaces, a zirconia bur), after which the surface is etched with a C-Cid etching agent using the Total-Etch method (the enamel is etched for 30 seconds). Etching, thorough rinsing and drying should produce a frosty Enamel surface. Overdrying should be avoided. Then, apply the adhesive material (e.g. C-Bond, C Prime) by rubbing it into the etched surface of the tooth using a brush and leave it for approximately 20 seconds. In the case of a C-Prime S leave the Adhesive on the Enamel surface for approximately 30-45 seconds. ’The adhesive should be applied and rubbed so that there is no need afterwards to remove any excess from the tooth surface with air. The adhesive is light-cured with a light curing device for 20 seconds.
Application of Camouflage composite:
To cover the discoloured structure of natural tooth the applying of very thin layers of Camouflage opaque material are required. To ensure the composite is distributed evenly use a brush or a little skill, taking advantage of the viscosity of the material. Each layer is light-cured for 30-40 seconds.
Variant I
-
light discoloured tooth, cervical defects (class V), with discolourations Opaque, Enamel, Transparent.
Variant II
-
Enamel significantly discoloured Opaque first layer, Opaque second layer, Enamel, Transparent
Variant III
-
slightly discoloured Enamel and teeth Opaquer, Dentine, Enamel, Transparent
Variant IV
-
Enamel and teeth severely discoloured Opaquer 2 layers, Dentine, Enamel, Transparent* (*transparent = incisal)
Once the final layer has been applied and cured, additional light-curing of the restoration for 60 seconds is recommended. For polishing purposes, use a diamond bur, milling bur and Arkansas stone (white). Zirconia burs are recommended to ensure an ideal fit and smooth transition with the enamel without causing any damage. Polishing of the surface of the composite using fine-grained rubbers and pastes until achieved the desired effect.
